Halloween isn’t just for kids – it’s a celebration that brings joy to all generations! We are excited to invite families to a very special trick-or-treat event at Saint John’s on the Lake, a senior living home located on Milwaukee’s East Side.
Trick-or-treating offers a meaningful opportunity for kids and older adults to interact, brighten each other’s day and experience the spirit of community! Families often find that the smiles and conversations are what make this experience a favorite.
Activities
Caregivers and children will trick-or-treat throughout the facility. Please have your child wear a costume (adults are welcome to dress up too!) and bring a bag for candy collection. Allow children to interact freely with the residents as you chat and get to know our grandfriends at Saint John’s.
Impact
By simply showing their unique personalities, our children will bring joy and smiles to residents and learn how friendships can form across generations. For residents, these interactions decrease feelings of isolation, spark joy and fill the halls with life and excitement.

Our Partner
Our partnership with Saint John’s began many years ago with an invitation to attend their trick-or-treat event, and it was the very first project that Kids Impact Community took part in. Over the years, our partnership has strengthened through our monthly intergenerational playgroups.
Saint John’s on the Lake residents are offered a person-centered philosophy and programming designed to meet the needs of the whole person – emotional, environmental, intellectual, occupational, physical, and social. Learn more at their website.
Young Changemakers’ Week
This project is just one of the events in Young Changemakers’ Week. This week includes a variety of service opportunities that are designed to ignite a passion for service in our youngest community members (ages newborn to kindergarten).
