Bring your little one(s) to Saint John’s on the Lake for a special intergenerational experience where children and older adults can play, learn and connect.
Our monthly 45-minute playgroups offer a welcoming, relaxed environment for young children to meet new friends while brightening the day of our grandfriends at Saint John’s. Through simple, engaging activities, children have the opportunity to learn patience and respect for older adults, how joy is contagious, and to build social skills while interacting with people of different ages and abilities.
The relationships that grow through these playgroups make this experience so meaningful. By participating regularly, children and residents have the chance to become familiar with one another and look forward to seeing each other each month. Our grandfriends truly delight in the smiles and energy our children bring from just being themselves.
Activities
Each playgroup follows a familiar structure to help both children and residents feel comfortable and engaged.
We begin with a hello song, followed by:
-
- – Story
- – Simple craft
- – Themed activity
- – Free play
- – Goodbye song
Each month will feature a fun new theme and activities designed to encourage interaction between children, caregivers, and Saint John’s residents.
Impact
Intergenerational playgroups boost the social and emotional health for everyone involved by fostering empathy in children, reducing isolation in seniors, and strengthening a sense of belonging, purpose, and community spirit.
When & Where
Join us every month through the end of the year from 10-10:45 a.m.
-
- – Thursday, September 24
- – Thursday, October 22
- – Thursday, November 19
- – Thursday, December 17
Please Note: We are encouraging participants to sign up for the entire session if possible. If there are only a few dates you can make in the session, please indicate your availability during registration.
