KIC Connects returns to Shechem for a special Valentine’s Day service event bringing KIC families together with youth served by Hope Street Ministry. Participants will create floral arrangements and Valentine treat bags to share with Hope Street residents, combining fun, connection, and meaningful service in a welcoming community setting.

Last summer, KIC launched its inaugural KIC Connects Summer Service Series which included monthly service projects uniting KIC families with youth served by Hope Street Ministry.  We’re excited to head back at Shechem community center for this Valentine’s Day Edition of KIC Connects!

Activities

We will start the session with an introductory game of Valentine’s Day Bingo and then transition to a service project.

This session’s project will be: Flowers and Sweet Treats for the Hope Street housing community.

Participants will engage in creative acts of kindness by packing a Valentine’s Day treat bag (one to take-home and one to donate). They will also create a floral arrangement to spread joy within the Hope Street housing community.

After our service project, the youth volunteers will have social time to connect and have fun with one another. It’s a powerful way to cultivate a sense of belonging, dignity, and joy within our community!

Impact

Many KIC volunteers come from the suburban greater Milwaukee area, while Hope Street Ministry is in central Milwaukee’s 53206 zip code. By bridging geographic and social divides, we hope to empower young volunteers to feel connected, capable, and confident. These hands-on service projects also teach essential life skills including communication, problem-solving, leadership, teamwork, and a strong work ethic — equipping youth to become engaged citizens in their community.
