Our playgroup will provide an opportunity for children, parents, and Hamilton House assisted living residents to interact and play with each other in a relaxed, friendly, playful, organized environment. During the playgroup time, they will have a blast creating garland that will bring joy and comfort to residents this holiday season.
Activities
We will open with a hello song to break the ice and introduce ourselves to the group. We will then spend time together getting craetive during craft time. As a group, we will create “Gratitude Garlands” to display in the common areas at Hamilton House. Kids and adults will write or draw what they’re thankful for on paper leaves. We will string them together and hang them in the common areas of the facility. At the end of our time together we will sing our clean up song to tidy the space before wrapping up our time and saying goodbye.
Impact
Intergenerational playgroups give children a true inter-generational experience while learning patience, kindness, and how to make new friends. Children will develop awareness of and relationships with members of the community they would otherwise not meet.
Our friends at Hamilton House benefit tremendously from the interaction with our children. Residents in the memory care unit of Hamilton House will have a chance to be around our energetic and humorous littles and offer their love and gentle care for them. All the participants in this group will get to use their unique perspectives to our gratitude discussion.

Ages: All ages welcome!
Cost: This group is free to attend, but you’re welcome to make a donation to support this and future KIC service projects.

Cancelations: We count on our registered volunteers to make these projects come to life. However, we understand illness and emergencies do come up so if you can no longer participate, please email sara@kicmke.org ASAP so we can fill your spot.
Our Partner
Hamilton House is a beautiful residential community in the heart of Cedarburg directly across from the local middle school. They provide apartments designed for independent and assisted living, as well as memory care options. We are partnering specifically with the residents in the memory care unit.
