Join KIC this fall to help elderly homeowners get ready for winter by assisting with yard work. Our children will get the opportunity to see the results of their efforts while enjoying the beautiful fall weather and burning off extra energy!

Activities

The Eras Senior Network needs volunteers to help with cleaning up after the winter – raking leaves, cleaning flower beds, trimming bushes, etc. This can be a project for you as an individual or a group! Do it on your own or gather your friends and family to make a difference in the lives of local seniors.

We understand the attention of each child is different – so rest breaks are encouraged to make this meaningful AND fun! It does not need to be a one-time visit or completed on a specific day (but can be) – whenever is convenient for you and the client.

We will connect you with a senior resident and you will communicate with them on when works for you to visit.

Impact

We hope that all of the children participating will see that hard work pays off and that they too can have an impact on the lives of Milwaukee’s most vulnerable.

When & Where

This project runs from October 15 to December 15.

Exact addresses in Milwaukee County will be given once registration is complete for the sake of confidentiality. We will make every attempt to assign you a home close to your residence. We will give you a phone number to directly contact the homeowner before your visit.

Registration Information

Participant Cap: 20 families (for 20 homes). You may sign up for one or two homes/yards.

Age: All are welcome to help however they can.

Cost: Free

Materials: Please bring your OWN yard tools such as gloves, rakes, bags, tarps, hedge trimmers, or a leaf blower (if you have them) for yourself and your children.
