Join Kids Impact Community for an all-ages, family-friendly morning of learning and service in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, including a special guest speaker, story time, music, movement, and various on-site service projects. Together we will bring MLK’s National Day of Service to life in a way that even the youngest children can understand.

Activities

On this National Day of Service, we will engage our children as dynamic and change-making citizens. After gathering together to learn about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we will get to work on a variety of service projects.

All Ages

    • – Decorate care cards and assemble on-the-go winter hygiene kits for Mr. Bob’s Under the Bridge
    • – Embellish paper bags with positive messages and put together snack packs for Our Next Generation
    • – Pack cancer care kits for Aurora Health Care Cancer Clinics
    • – Design reusable grocery bags for Kinship Community Food Center
    • – Create “Congratulations on Your Adoption” cards for Kids Matter Inc.
    • – Read picture books in the book corner about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other big ideas
    • – Participate in additional service project stations that capture your interest

All Ages: To help engage your kids before and during the project, we invite your family to choose and purchase items to bring for filling our winter hygiene kits and snack packs. A sign-up link will be included in your confirmation email.

We also invite families to donate a new stuffed animal that will be presented during an upcoming adoption! (Think traditional average-sized stuffed animals like bears, dogs, cats, elephants).

Please note: bringing an item to donate is completely optional and not required to attend or participate.

Leadership Opportunity for Kids ages 9+: This year, we are once again in need of junior leaders to help with set-up the Saturday before and assist attendees at a variety of project stations the day of the event. If your child is ready for a little extra responsibility, click here for more information and to register.

Kids ages 12+: As a special extension to our program, we invite kids ages 12+ and their caregivers to distribute the assembled winter hygiene kits with Mr. Bob’s Under the Bridge on Jan. 25. Click here for more information and to register.

Impact

Children will learn they can be true leaders and that their little hands can make a big impact on others by spreading Dr. King’s message of equality and love.
