Celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. as we help our children build a world where all people are treated with kindness and respect. Teach your children that they can be true leaders and that their little hands can make a big impact on others by spreading Dr. King’s message of equality and love.

Virtual Event
Join KIC for a virtual all-ages celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, including an engaging story time with Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, music, and movement breaks, and on-the-spot service project: raid your closet for diapers and wipes to donate to Milwaukee Diaper Mission. Diapers are a necessity to ensure healthy children, yet 1 in 3 U.S. families experience diaper need!
Youth Helping Youth – Pack a Fostering Hope Duffel Bag for Kids in Foster Care (K5+)**
Monday, Jan. 16 | 4–5 p.m.
Virtual Event
Participate in a compelling event about foster care with leaders from Kids Matter Inc. With your support, your children will then engage neighbors, friends, and family to assemble a Fostering Hope duffel bag for kids moving into foster care, including items such as a book, a toy, new pajamas, and a lot of love.
**This is a great opportunity for larger groups like scout troops, sports teams, etc. Email [email protected] for more information and to register your group.

Social Justice Story Time – Celebrating MLK Day! (age 0-5)

North Shore Library
Join KIC and the North Shore Library for a Social Justice Story Time with Rona Wolfe, a kindergarten teacher experienced in discussing big ideas. Through stories, Rona will introduce Martin Luther King Jr. and lead kid-friendly discussions about race, racial justice, and address how kids can take big actions in small ways.
Distribute Food at Community Pantry
Tuesday, Jan. 17 | 3:30-6 p.m.
Kinship Community Food Center – Riverwest
Assist guests at Kinship Community Food Center in selecting groceries, carrying bags, serving snacks, and cleaning up. Kinship is dedicated to helping residents build community, improve nutritional health, and reduce poverty through the power of food.
Serve a Meal at Saint Vincent de Paul
Thursday, Jan. 19 | 4:15–6:15 p.m.
All Peoples Church
Children and their caregivers will prepare and serve more than 100 hot and nutritious meals for the adult and child guests of St. Vincent de Paul at All People’s Church in the Harambee neighborhood.

Engage your children as dynamic change-making citizens by packing lunches in your own home for Milwaukee residents struggling with food insecurity. Lunches will be distributed by Just One More Ministry.
