Imagine a world where every child feels seen, understood, and celebrated! This KIC family event is all about fostering empathy and building incredible friendships.

If your 4-10 year-old knows at least 30 children, there is likely an autistic one among them. People with autism experience the world differently, and it really helps “neurotypical” children, or those whose central nervous systems are developing as expected, to know what autism might look like in people they know or would like to get to know.

Activities

Join us for an engaging session with Chelsea Budde, a professional consultant and parent who’s been teaching kids about autism acceptance for nearly two decades. Your child will gain new knowledge and learn how to foster amazing friendships with all kinds of brains!

After our discussion, we’ll roll up our sleeves to create sensory bags, designed to bring joy and support to children and families in St. Francis Children’s Center’s (SFCC) birth-to-three program. It’s a powerful way to learn, connect, and give back. Your child will get to take home a sensory bag too!

Impact

At this KIC Family Project, we intend for you to:

    • – Help your child develop flexible and inclusive social skills.
    • – Create meaningful sensory bags for kids at SFCC.
    • – Spend quality time volunteering as a family.
    • – Learn about autism in a way that’s easy for children to understand.
