Serve lunch with a smile to seniors on a day trip to the peaceful Blue Lotus Nature Center in West Bend – an excursion coordinated by Community Projects for Seniors.
Community Projects for Seniors is focused on brightening the everyday lives of low-income senior citizens residing in subsidized apartment buildings. Their programs are designed to fight loneliness, reduce social isolation, create human connections, and build community.
Each summer, they invite the seniors they serve on a nature trip to the fully accessible Blue Lotus Center. The seniors have the opportunity to enjoy fishing, live music, swimming, canoeing, hiking, and relaxation away from the city. They are also served a complimentary lunch. That’s where your family comes in!
Activities
Your family will have the opportunity to serve lunch with a smile to the seniors at the center. Community Projects for Seniors staff will meet you and provide directions for how the lunch service operates. Please encourage your children to engage and chat with the seniors as they serve. Kids bring such joy to older adults!
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to play bingo, go fishing, or simply take a brief hike with some of the seniors. Following lunch, you may also be invited to serve lemonade, snacks, or water.
Impact
Your kids will create human connections, help fight loneliness, and build community by brightening the lives of older adults who are in need of some extra love.
