Everybody has wonderful strengths and abilities that can be celebrated! Unfortunately, in our society there are many negative stereotypes about people with differing abilities. Nearly one in four Americans lives with a disability. It is important that we teach our children at an early age to treat everyone with kindness, love, and dignity.
Life Navigators was founded by parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Based in Wauwatosa, the organization’s mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, their families and the community. The organization serves over 4,800 individuals annually through:
- Information and education
- Programs that teach people how to get the support they need so that they can live on their own
- Money management help
- Corporate guardianship
- Family support
- Long-term care services if they need some extra help to live independently.

Activities
KIC families will join our friends at Life Navigators for a family game night. Everyone will be engaged in different types of board games or card games allowing us to get to know each other and celebrate all abilities. We will share in a pizza dinner and dessert during the event. We would like to encourage families to consider bringing a game to donate to Life Navigators so they can continually provide new and different game options for their consumers. Some suggestions or examples will be emailed upon registration.
