Kids Impact Community (KIC) invites you to collect food donations to help Kinship Community Food Center provide families with items to prepare their own traditional Thanksgiving meals.
Kinship Community Food Center engages volunteers and neighborhood residents to end hunger, isolation, and poverty. This year, Kinship is focused on helping their frequent community members have both the supplies and the knowledge to cook their own healthy, traditional Thanksgiving meals. We are asking families to collect/contribute items that can be used in either sweet or savory baking (or a combination of both!)
Activities
Your children, along with an adult, can visit houses in your neighborhood to ask for donations to help collect food for families to cook their own Thanksgiving meal. Families may also choose to simply donate on their own without going door-to-door. Once you register, we will follow up with a detailed email that will include important dates, specific dropoff locations, a list of what food items to collect, and prepared documents to help set your children up for success.
Purpose
Our hope is that this event will be led by your children! We wish to give your children the opportunity to feel directly capable of making change in our community. They will have the chance to learn about food insecurity and how they have the power to help fight it.
Impact
That your children will learn that even though they are small, they can make a big impact on others, and have fun doing it!
