Join KIC and the North Shore Library for a Social Justice Story Time with Rona Wolfe, a kindergarten teacher experienced in discussing big ideas. Through stories, our kids will meet Martin Luther King Jr. They will be empowered to understand and celebrate our differences while recognizing the similarities and connections we all share.

Rona Kader Wolfe has been a kindergarten teacher and anti-bias educator for 30 years. She is currently working at the UW-Milwaukee Children’s Learning Center as the Administrative Specialist in Anti-Bias/Social Justice Education. She earned her bachelor’s in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from UW-Milwaukee, where she is also working towards a master’s degree in Community Engagement and Education. Rona has served both Milwaukee’s Indigenous community and its Jewish community as a kindergarten teacher at the Indian Community School and Milwaukee Jewish Day School.

Activities

Rona will lead kid-friendly discussions about race and racial justice and address how kids can take big actions in small ways. Towards the end of our story time, we will engage the kids in a special on-the-spot service project craft. The agenda will look like so:

    • Listen to three books
    • Movement break
    • Thoughtful kid-friendly discussion
    • On-the-Spot Service project craft

Impact

To celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. and help our children build a world where all people are treated with kindness and respect.
