Our children will be assembling homemade lasagnas for neighbors in our community who are going through challenging times and could use a little extra support. This activity is about more than preparing a meal—it’s about kindness, connection, and learning the value of helping others. As the kids work together, they’ll be creating not only delicious food, but also a reminder to our neighbors that they are cared for and not alone.

Activities

At this event, we will start by having story time with an age-appropriate book discussing food insecurity. We will then work to assemble lasagnas for community members who requested a homemade meal through Lasagna Love. After we are done with this, the children will enjoy hot cocoa and cookies provided by The Coop and make winter placemats for Community Projects for Seniors to be delivered with meals to seniors in our community.

Impact

By helping make homemade lasagnas for community members in need, children will experience the joy of giving back in a hands-on and meaningful way. They’ll learn the value of teamwork as they collaborate in the kitchen, practice important life skills like following directions and measuring ingredients, and gain confidence by seeing the impact of their efforts.

Most importantly, they’ll discover how small acts of kindness—like preparing a comforting meal—can make a big difference in someone’s day. This event helps children build empathy, responsibility, and a deeper connection to their community, all while having fun and creating something delicious.
