Kinship Hoop Houses provide fresh and local food to those in need. Let’s help take care of the hoop houses this summer season! KIC volunteers will help Kinship harvest healthy flowers, fruits, and veggies for their Community Food Center. The food goes directly to families who might go without in our community. This project is a fun, hands-on gardening experience.
Activities
Kids and families will help prepare Hoop Houses for the gardening season! Activities may include planting seeds, watering, painting, shoveling, moving mulch and dirt, pulling weeds, supporting growing things, and some general maintenance of the site. Please prepare for an indoor/outdoor experience. Julie usually brings a craft, or books and other fun things for all kids to enjoy.
Purpose
Teach our kids about food insecurity in our local community and how they can help. Plus a little gardening and physical activity is healthy too!
