Kids Impact Community is excited to return to Shechem Community Center to support their annual Back to School Celebration. Together, we’ll help local children and families prepare for the school year by distributing backpacks and school supplies while creating a fun, encouraging environment for everyone attending.

Volunteers will primarily assist with handing out school supplies, greeting families, and helping the event run smoothly. If you have a special talent such as face painting, balloon twisting, nail painting, magic, music, games, or another engaging activity for children, we’d love for you to share your gifts to help make the afternoon extra special!

Whether you’re helping a child pick up school supplies, sharing a smile, or creating a fun memory, you’ll play an important role in helping students start the school year feeling supported and celebrated.

Activities

Volunteer opportunities may include:
– Distributing backpacks and school supplies
– Greeting and assisting families
– Helping with event flow and setup as needed
– Providing family-friendly activities such as face painting, balloon art, nail painting, simple games, music or other special talents (optional)

1. The Gathering’s executive director’s home in the Sherman Park neighborhood (Sundays)

2. Shechem at Hope Street (2510 W. Capitol Drive) (Mondays)

We will send an email detailing the pick-up and drop-off procedures to interested families. We ask for a three-month commitment to this project (June, July, August).

Impact

By serving together, volunteers will help ensure local students begin the school year with the supplies they need to succeed, welcome and encourage children and families through positive community connections, and use their time and talents to bring joy, confidence and belonging to children as they head back to school.
