Junior Leaders Program
This September, KIC had its first junior leader for a communitywide service project: Kinship Food Drive. Nine-year-old Zoe read an email about bare shelves at the pantry where KIC families serve monthly. Together, with a KIC adult leader-mentor, she designed and executed the first project of the Junior Leaders Program–collecting over 500 pounds of food!
KIC invites more youth leaders (ages 9-14) to create service opportunities to engage their peers and work on solutions in the community. The Junior Leader will participate in the planning, development, and execution with an experienced KIC adult leader-mentor.
Some youth leaders may have a specific project idea in mind, while others may be passionate about an issue but need a little more direction.
If you know of a motivated youth who has an idea to make a positive contribution to our community, please have the young leader complete the Junior Leader Application.
The application is open to children (ages 9-14) all year long. Young leaders can determine the best time of year to lead their project. Proposals will be reviewed monthly by the KIC Leadership Team, and a KIC representative will reach out to you and your Junior Leader for next steps.
KIC is excited to position children in leadership opportunities as we recognize that our kids have the human power, vision and best ideas for making our community a better place for all.
