At Home Volunteering

KIC projects not lining up with your schedule this month? Here a few ways you can serve our community at home:

At Home Projects

  • Call to check in and offer to pick up groceries for elderly/immuno-compromised neighbors.
  • Go for a walk. Collect rocks. Paint them with fun messages/designs. Let them dry. Go for another walk. Place them in the yards of neighbors and friends.
  • Initiate a FaceTime or phone call playdate with a relative or friend that you love. A little interaction goes a LONG way.
  • Use sidewalk chalk to write messages of love and support for those walking by your home.
  • A simple litter pick-up on a walk with your family as a nod to Earth Day and Spring.
  • Our bird friends are building nests and looking for food this spring. Plus birds are fun to watch when looking for signs of Spring! Your family can help by making a nesting bag for birds or creating a bird feeder.
  • Work on crafting a gift to give to teachers at the end of the school year.
  • Make no-sew fleece blankets for local nursing home residents to use as lap blankets or for kids to use as security blankets.
  • Create pet toys for the Wisconsin Humane Society or make a toy for your or  your neighbor’s dog or cat.
  • Take advantage of some extra time at home and clean out your closets and toy boxes. Start a collection of items to donate to a local nonprofit.
  • Write a letter to a veteran.
  • Decorate placemats for Meals on Wheels.
  • At meal times, consider having a Gratitude Moment where each member of your family shares what he/she/they are thankful for. Staying positive and practicing gratitude in times of uncertainty.
