Led by KIC Junior Leader, Artiola, Leaders in Wellness is a heartfelt initiative bringing volunteers together to create wellness care kits and decorate uplifting cards for cancer patients at Aurora Health Care Cancer Clinics throughout Milwaukee. This event aims to spread comfort, encouragement, and compassion to patients undergoing treatment while empowering youth leadership and community connection through meaningful service.

As a young leader passionate about wellness, compassion, and community service, this initiative is deeply personal to Artiola. After losing her grandfather to cancer, she experienced firsthand how important support and kindness can be during treatment. Aurora Health Care Cancer Clinics are especially meaningful to her family, as that is where her Grandpa received care throughout his journey. Through Leaders in Wellness, Artiola hopes to bring comfort and encouragement to patients undergoing treatment at Aurora clinics throughout Milwaukee.

Activities

Families will unite for a powerful hands-on day of compassion and community impact by creating heartfelt cards filled with uplifting messages and artwork while assembling care kits designed to bring comfort, encouragement, and hope to cancer patients. More than just an activity, this experience creates meaningful human connection by reminding patients that they are not facing their journey alone — they are supported by an entire community standing beside them. Every card written and every care kit packed becomes a symbol of love, strength, and encouragement, showing how even small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference in the lives of those battling cancer.

Impact

This program inspires both children and adults to broaden their understanding of what it truly means to support someone facing a medical challenge like cancer. It teaches them that cancer is not simply a battle between a patient and an illness — it is a journey carried by families, friends, caregivers, and entire communities standing together in strength and compassion. By encouraging empathy, connection, and service, Leaders in Wellness empowers people to make a meaningful impact, one person at a time, proving that no one fights alone.
