Be a Summer Social Helper with Mom’s Mental Health Initiative

Moms Mental Health Initiative (MMHI) is looking for KIC family volunteers to assist with their Summer Social. 

MMHI Summer Social is a family-friendly fundraising event that unites the community in celebration of the strength of their participants and the immeasurable power of togetherness.

One in five moms experiences a perinatal mental health condition, like postpartum depression. The Summer Social honors those who have walked through a perinatal mental health journey and forged ahead in the work to support those who will travel the path in the future. Funds raised from this event will allow MMHI to continue offering hope and help to perinatal people struggling in Southeast Wisconsin and Dane County.

What to expect:

    • – A Park Pals Meetup
    • – MKE Moms
    • – Music Workshop with Third Coast Therapy
    • – Silent Auction & Raffle
    • – Refreshments

Activities

Specifically, we are looking for families for each of the following jobs:

    • – SETUP (7-9:30 a.m.): Help put tables, chairs, and tents in place and the items that go on top of them. Heavy lifting is not necessary, but light lifting may be.
    • – EVENT SUPPORT (Shift One: 9-10:30 a.m. | Shift Two: 10:30-Noon): Support may be needed at the refreshments area, the raffle, duck game, or silent auction. We will also need volunteers in the baby area to help keep track of toys and floaters to check in at the various stations.
    • – TAKE DOWN (Noon-1:30 p.m.): Help re-box materials, take down tables, chairs, and tents, and do general tidying of the space so we leave it clean for its next users!

***Even if you cannot volunteer, we welcome you to attend this wonderful community event with MMHI!

Impact

Kids will get to use their time and love to support our partner organization to make a positive difference in the lives of moms in Wisconsin while having the opportunity to have fun at the Summer Social.

Participant Cap: 8 families

Age: All ages are welcome to help!

Cost: FREE

Materials: Please wear weather-appropriate, comfortable shoes and clothes.

Cancellations: We count on our registered volunteers to make these projects come to life. However, we understand illness and emergencies do come up so if you can no longer participate, please email ashley@kicmke.org ASAP so we can fill your spot.
