Spring Yard Clean Up for Seniors 2023

Eras Senior Network has reached out asking for help this spring! This will be our 8th year participating in their yard clean up events. They are in need of volunteers to help with cleaning up after the winter. Participate on your own or gather your friends and family to make a difference in the lives of local seniors.

It is a one-time visit and would not need to be done on a specific day. KIC will help connect you with a senior resident and confirm days/times that work for your visit. The date of your visit will be weather and availability permitting. (We’d guess visits could begin between the end of April and the beginning of May.)

Activities

You and your children will be doing yard work that may include raking leaves, cleaning flower beds, trimming bushes, etc. We understand the attention of each child is different, so rest breaks are encouraged to make this a meaningful but FUN time!

Purpose

For our children to get the opportunity to see the results of their efforts through completing work for others. Enjoying the beautiful spring weather and allowing the kids to burn off extra energy will be a bonus as well!

Impact

We hope that all of the children participating will see that hard work pays off and that they too can have an impact on the lives of Milwaukee’s older population.

When and Where

Consider scheduling a visit anywhere between April 15 and May 31.

Exact addresses in Milwaukee County will be given once registration is complete for the sake of confidentiality.  We will make every attempt to assign you a home close to your residence. We will give you a phone number to directly contact the homeowner prior to your visit.

If you would like to partner with another KIC family on your assigned “grandfriend’s” home, please indicate the KIC partner family’s name in the registration.
