gram is a Milwaukee-based initiative that collects and distributes new and
gently used books to children\, primarily to support those in low-income
families\, by helping them build home libraries and develop crucial litera
cy skills.\nBooks serve as mirrors that reflect a child’s culture and he
lp build identity. They are also windows into someone else’s lived exper
ience. In recent years\, children’s literature has become more diverse a
nd reflective of different races\, religions\, family structures and disab
ilities. It is so important that children have books in their library that
reflect them! Share with friends and family and help us build the librari
es of the children served by Next Door!
