SUMMARY:Serving Pantry Guests
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\nWork with your child at the Kinship Community Fo
od Center (formerly called Riverwest Food Pantry) – an organization focu
sed on coming together around food to relieve hunger\, improve lives\, and
grow community well-being. While their name has changed\, their mission i
s still the same! Your child will be immersed in an environment where they
will experience their capabilities to help others and also be mentored in
acts of dignity and grace by those very same people. The Kinship Communit
y Food Center embodies their motto: In a community of generosity everyone
gives and everyone receives.\nActivities\nYou and your child will assist s
hoppers with registration and grocery selection\, help shoppers carry bags
\, serve snacks to shoppers\, help in the kid's corner and clean up. Hands
-on orientation and assignments are given upon arrival.\nDuring the summer
months\, much of the produce that volunteers hand out to shoppers is grow
n right here at Kinship’s Urban Farm. Making this farm-to-table connecti
on with our kids helps them to understand the importance of growing fruits
and vegetables as a way to fight food insecurity in our community. If you
r family is interested\, we have opportunities to volunteer at the urban f
arm (aka\, the "Hoop Houses") this month on July 6 and July 22.\nWe will a
lso be collecting reusable bags to donate to the pantry. Their goal is to
eliminate as many plastic shopping bags as possible. If you have extra reu
sable bags at home\, please consider bringing some with you to donate!\n\n
