By bridging geographic and social divides\, we hope to empower young volunteers from KIC and Shechem to feel connected\, capable\, and c onfident as they work on service projects together.\n\nThese hands-on serv ice projects also teach essential life skills including communication\, pr oblem-solving\, leadership\, teamwork\, and a strong work ethic - equippin g youth to become engaged citizens in their community.\n\nIn addition to o ur service project\, we will include social activities for the youth to pl ay\, laugh and enjoy summertime fun together!\nActivities\nJoin us at this session for a Back to School Celebration and Craft for Good with Cloud 9 Workshop.\n\nThe afternoon will be a drop-in activity. Stay for an hour or the whole time! There will be a DJ for dancing\, carnival-type activities \, balloon creations and face painting. Participants will engage in creati ve acts of kindness by crafting silly pencils\, personalizing pencil pouch es and decorating composition notebooks—one to keep and one to donate to foster kids served by Fostering Community.\n\nThis service project combin es service work with social time for kids across Milwaukee so they can con nect and have fun with one another AND show love and generosity! It's a po werful way to cultivate a sense of belonging\, dignity\, and joy within ou r community!\nImpact\nAt the KIC Connects Summer Service Series\, we inten d to:\n\n \n\n - Deepen Family &\; Community Connections: By engaging children in positive activities\, we create spaces where families can bon d and connect with others.\n - Increase Engagement in Positive Activities : Youth will engage throughout the summer in unique service projects\, nur turing confidence and reinforcing a culture of kindness and mutual support . \n - Increase Access to Essential Resources: Assembling hygiene kits f or Shechem kids\, providing meals\, and creating welcome baskets directly meets basic needs such as food\, health\, and childcare resources for fami lies.\n - Promote Community Connectedness &\; Safety: Group service pr ojects bring people together\, strengthening trust and fostering a safe\, inclusive environment.\n - Celebrate the Power of Arts &\; Creativity: Whether through baking or crafting for others\, creative expression will play a vital role in reinforcing a sense of belonging.\n\n\n\nWhen &\; Where\nWednesday\, August 13 from 1-4:45 pm (stay for an hour or the whole time)\n\nShechem at Hope Street\n\n2522 W.
