SUMMARY:KIC Connects Summer Service Series #3: Cupcakes and Crafts
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\nThis summer\, KIC launched its inaugural KIC Con
nects Summer Service Series - Building Resiliency and Friendship Across Zi
p Codes which includes monthly service projects uniting KIC families with
youth served by Hope Street Ministry.\n\nJoin us at Shechem community cent
er for our THIRD service session!\n\nMany KIC volunteers come from the sub
urban greater Milwaukee area\, while Hope Street Ministry is in central Mi
lwaukee’s 53206 zip code. By bridging geographic and social divides\, we
hope to empower young volunteers to feel connected\, capable\, and confid
ent.\n\nThese hands-on service projects also teach essential life skills i
 ncluding communication\, problem-solving\, leadership\, teamwork\, and a s
trong work ethic - equipping youth to become engaged citizens in their com
munity.\n\nIn addition to our service project\, we will include social act
ivities for the youth to play\, laugh and enjoy summertime fun together!\n
Activities\nWe will start each session with an introductory game and/or ge
t-to-know you activity. Then we will do some learning together about the s
pecific service project we will engage in together. After this\, we will d
o a service project together.\n\nThis session’s project will be Cupcakes
and Crafts for the Hope Street housing community. Participants will engag
e in creative acts of kindness by decorating a set of cupcakes (one to tak
e-home and one to donate) with Jobea Bakes. They will also design a door d
ecoration or create a floral arrangement to spread joy within the Hope Str
eet housing community.\n\nAfter our service project\, the youth volunteers
will have social time to connect and have fun with one another. It's a po
werful way to cultivate a sense of belonging\, dignity\, and joy within ou
 r community!\nImpact\nAt this KIC Family Project\, we intend to:\n\n \n\n
  	- Deepen Family &amp\; Community Connections: By engaging children in po
sitive activities\, we create spaces where families can bond and connect w
ith others.\n - Increase Engagement in Positive Activities: Youth will en
gage throughout the summer in unique service projects\, nurturing confiden
ce and reinforcing a culture of kindness and mutual support. \n - Increa
se Access to Essential Resources: Assembling hygiene kits for Shechem kids
\, providing meals\, and creating welcome baskets directly meets basic nee
ds such as food\, health\, and childcare resources for families.\n - Prom
ote Community Connectedness &amp\; Safety: Group service projects bring pe
ople together\, strengthening trust and fostering a safe\, inclusive envir
onment.\n - Celebrate the Power of Arts &amp\; Creativity: Whether throug
h baking or crafting for others\, creative expression will play a vital ro
 le in reinforcing a sense of belonging.\n\n\n\nWhen &amp\; Where\nTuesday\
