SUMMARY:Family Game Night Celebrating All Abilities at Life Navigators
DESCRIPTION:Everybody has wonderful strengths and abilities that can be cel
 ebrated! Unfortunately\, in our society there are many negative stereotype
 s about people with differing abilities. Nearly one in four Americans live
 s with a disability. It is important that we teach our children at an earl
 y age to treat everyone with kindness\, love\, and dignity. \n\nLife Navi
 gators was founded by parents of children with intellectual and developmen
 tal disabilities. Based in Wauwatosa\, the organization’s mission is to 
 improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities\, their fami
 lies and the community. The organization serves over 4\,800 individuals an
 nually through:\n\n 	Information and education\n 	Programs that teach peop
 le how to get the support they need so that they can live on their own\n 	
 Money management help\n 	Corporate guardianship\n 	Family support\n 	Long-
 term care services if they need some extra help to live independently.\n\n

 nAges: All ages welcome! Please keep in mind that we will be playing games
  so it is best to bring children who will be able to participate and under
 stand some basic board and card games. \n\nCost: Free to attend! KIC is e
 ncouraging families to donate a new and unused board or card game to Life

 . \nActivities\nKIC families will join our friends at Life Navigators for
  a family game night. Everyone will be engaged in different types of board
  games or card games allowing us to get to know each other and celebrate a
 ll abilities. We will share in a pizza dinner and dessert during the event
 . We would like to encourage families to consider bringing a game to donat
 e to Life Navigators so they can continually provide new and different gam
 e options for their consumers. Some suggestions or examples will be emaile
 d upon registration. \nPurpose\nTo provide our children and their grownup
 s the opportunity to build an understanding of the experiences of kids and
  adults with differing abilities.\n\nImpact: To de-stigmatize the notion o
 f disability in the minds of children and encourage friendships amongst ki
 ds of all abilities by supporting our friends at Life Navigators. \nWhen
