Together we will brin g Martin Luther King\, Jr.’s National Day of Service to life in a way th at even the youngest children can understand.\n\nActivities\nOn this Natio nal Day of Service\, we will engage our children as dynamic and change-mak ing citizens. After gathering together to learn about Dr. Martin Luther Ki ng Jr.\, we will read a story and have an all-ages discussion about housin g insecurity with our guest speaker from Mr. Bob’s Under the Bridge. The n\, we will get to work on a variety of service projects.\nAll Ages\n\n\n - Decorate care cards and assemble winter hygiene kits for Mr. Bob’s Un der the Bridge.\n - Embellish paper bags with positive messages and assem ble snack packs for Our Next Generation.\n - Make MLK bookmarks for emerg ing readers served by Bernie’s Book Bank.\n - Create journals for cance r care kits delivered by Aurora Health Care Cancer Clinics.\n - Design re usable grocery bags for Kinship Community Food Center.\n - Read picture b ooks in the book corner about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other big ide as.\n - Participate in additional service project stations that capture y our interest\n\nKids ages 9+: This year\, we need junior leaders to help w ith set-up the day before and assist attendees at various project stations the day of the event.
