Women’s Center Lunch Pack
August 12, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
Children and their caregivers will prepare and serve lunch for approximately 50 women, men, and children staying at the Milwaukee Women’s Center, a Division of Community Advocates. Milwaukee Women’s Center works to provide services for women, men, and children whose lives have been affected by domestic violence, addiction, mental health issues, homelessness, and poverty. (https://communityadvocates.net/what-we-do/milwaukee-womens-center/overview.html)
Purpose and Impact: Children and their caregivers will help prepare and serve lunch at the Milwaukee Women’s Center. Children will work together to put together an entire meal and then serve it directly to those staying at the Center. The experience of creating a meal from scratch and serving it directly to the community will allow children the opportunity to see just how much they are really capable of accomplishing.
Activities: The event will begin with food preparation an hour before service begins at 12:00 p.m. The lunch will include meat and cheese sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit, chips, and decorated sugar cookies. Both types of sandwiches will need to be assembled and cookies will need to be decorated. All food will be prepared at the Milwaukee Women’s Center. Once service ends, participants will all help in cleaning up the kitchen facility. Participants are encouraged to select the item that they wish to contribute to the meal at time of sign up.
When: Monday, August 12th 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Lunch service begins at 12:00 p.m.)
