Treats and Toys for Easter 2021
March 1 - March 19
Kids Impact Community has themed March as Food Insecurity month and we are very excited to explore a little deeper into this topic! Let’s talk, needs versus wants! Join us for an at home opportunity to work with your children to help them better understand the difference between things we need in our life to survive and things we want in our lives that may not be necessary to thrive. You will do this by preparing an Easter Basket filled with “Treats and Toys” for families of Hephatha Lutheran Church.
Together, we will create 20 Easter Baskets filled with supplies for an at home Easter egg hunt, an egg dying kit for the families to do together at home, as well as extra treats and toys/trinkets to really “treat” the receiving families. It is important to know that these families will be receiving visa gift cards from other sources to help purchase the food they NEED and that our activity is aiming to treat families with WANTS that they may otherwise be able to indulge in.
Activities/What Will You Do?: Of course, we know the activity is to fill an Easter basket (which will be provided by KIC) with all sorts of treats and toys but just as importantly your children will be learning and discussing the important concept of “Needs versus Wants”.
Upon registration, you will receive an email including a link to a book on video and a “Tips and Tools” document with some follow up questions to help facilitate more conversation within your home! This document will also include more resources to help encourage even more learning.
Purpose: Is to work together with your children to learn about needs vs wants by creating a basket of treats and toys for families of Hephatha Lutheran Church.
Impact: It is our hope that by participating in this event, children will not only learn the difference between needs and wants but more importantly that they have very capable hands and hearts to connect with those in our Milwaukee community, that may be in need!
