Special Olympics Young Athletes

March 2 @ 11:15 am - 12:30 pm

Beat cabin fever this winter with our newest 8 week project! We are partnering with St. Francis Children’s Center to host this 8 week Special Olympics Young Athletes Program. This sport and play program is designed for children with and without intellectual disabilities ages 2-7 to introduce basic sport skills like running, kicking, and throwing. Young Athletes offer families the opportunity to share the joy of sports with children of all abilities.

Register ONCE for all 8 weeks.

Purpose: Kids learn how to play with others and develop important skills for learning. Through Young Athletes, all children, their families and people in their community can be part of an inclusive team.

Impact: Young Athletes helps all children to develop important movement and sport skills. Inclusive play has a benefit for children without intellectual disabilities, to help them better understand and accept others.

Activities: we will enjoy a quick snack together before starting the 45 minute sport class in the gym at St. Francis Children’s Center. Each week will focus on a different sport skill like running, kicking, and throwing. Concluding with a party and awards ceremony on the last day.
