Pen Pal Program with Good Friend Inc.
February 1 - February 28
Kids Impact Community in conjunction with Good Friend Inc, a non-profit in Waukesha that focuses on autism awareness, is looking to form budding friendships via pen pals with children on the autism spectrum. During a time when we could all use a bit more “togetherness,” your child/ren will be able to create a budding friendship and perhaps learn about those with differing abilities and all they have to offer. We will match you with a child of a similar age (if possible) and your child will write letters, create cards/art projects, send an email or video message to their new friend and receive the same in return. The hope would be to have a connection of letters/cards/videos sent over a period of 6 months. Aiming for a connection of at least 1x/month and no more than twice per week.
In conjunction with this project, consider registering for our Virtual Assembly with Good Friend on Tuesday, February 23. This interactive session will inspire children to welcome new friends, appreciate differences while recognizing similarities, demonstrate caring behavior and foster empathy for individuals on the autism spectrum.
Good Friend Inc.’s mission is to create autism awareness, teach acceptance of differences, and foster empathy for individuals on the autism spectrum.
