Panera End of Day Dough-Nation Delivery
Are you looking for an “independent” family project to engage your family each month? We have a perfect opportunity for you. KIC is partnering with Panera-Glendale with their End of Day Dough-nation Program. KIC families will reclaim surplus baked goods from Panera to distribute to community members living with food insecurity. We are seeking volunteers to pick up and deliver baked goods one Sunday or Monday morning per month.
PURPOSE: Children and their caregivers will have the opportunity to collect baked goods from a local restaurant and deliver them to The Gathering’s Executive Director’s home in Sherman Park neighborhood (Sundays) or to a Shorewood home drop-off location for Food is Free MKE (Mondays).
IMPACT: Children will serve with their families to re-purpose unsold bakery items to provide sustenance to friends living with food insecurity.
ACTIVITIES: Families will pick a Sunday or Monday (e.g. 1st Mondays of the month, 3rd Sundays of the month) to pick up baked goods from Panera-Glendale (any time before 10:00 am) and deliver the baked goods to The Gathering’s Executive Director’s home in Sherman Park neighborhood (Sundays) or to a Shorewood home drop-off location (Mondays). We will send an email detailing the pick up and drop off procedures with interested families.
DAYS AVAILABLE: 1st – 5th Sundays of the month, 1st – 5th Mondays of the month. We ask for a 3-month commitment to this project. (June – August)
REGISTRATION: Available Here
CANCELLATIONS: If you are unable to pick up on your day for any reason, you can send a “substitute family.” KIC also has an available “substitute” if needed. We will share that information in an email to participating families.
PARTICIPANT CAP: 10 families
AGES: All ages welcome
