2022 Holiday Cookie Drive

December 14 @ 8:00 am - December 15 @ 2:00 pm

Spread joy this holiday season by baking festive cookies with your kids that will be delivered to the Dispensa de la Paz food pantry on the south side of Milwaukee. Dispensa hosts a Christmas party for its participants and the cookies you bake with your children will be part of their festivities. The cookies are a sweet treat they might not otherwise enjoy and, just as importantly, the cookies represent an expression of care and connection to other folks during this bright season of love.

Activities

You and your child can enjoy baking together while helping those struggling with food insecurity.  Bake three dozen or more holiday-inspired cookies (NO nuts, nut butters, nut oils, nut extracts, peanuts, or peanut butter). Please indicate the number of cookies you will be baking in the drop-down menu when registering. These do not have to be fancy cut-out cookies. Holiday sprinkles on a “plain-jane” cookie are very festive!

Purpose

Explore empathy with your child while sharing some holiday cheer with Milwaukee families struggling with food insecurity.

Impact

While baking with your child, take this opportunity to talk about who you are baking for and how happy this special treat is going to make the recipient feel. Also, talk about how it would make them feel to receive such a kind gift from another person.

When and Where

After baking, cookies can be dropped off at houses in Wauwatosa (near the Zoo), Greendale, or Glendale anytime Wednesday, Dec. 14, or before 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15.  Specific addresses will be sent out via email after registration. Please package cookies in non-returnable containers and label the outside with how many dozen cookies there are.
