Helpers at the Boys & Girls Club Halloween Spooktacular
October 24 @ 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Every day, an average of 5,000 of Milwaukee’s youth stream through the doors of Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the city to participate in academic and recreational programming led by positive role models and leaders. The Clubs provide safety and support during critical hours of the day. They empower youth, change lives and build community through a focus on safety, academic support and character development. The Don & Sallie Davis Boys & Girls Club has been putting on an annual Halloween Spooktacular for their members for years. Teens create an elaborate haunted house in the lower level of the club. The gym is filled with carnival games where club members win Halloween candy. Many of the games are built and decorated by club members in the on-site wood shop. This Halloween event has become a much-anticipated tradition for all of the Club members and their families.
Purpose: Provide a fun and safe Halloween experience for children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in trick-or-treating due to neighborhood safety concerns.
Impact: In a fun and festive environment, your children will have the opportunity to practice their leadership and helping skills as they run one of the carnival games. They will interact with kids of all ages and have the opportunity to grow social skills and even make a new friend or two.
Activities: Each parent-child pair will run a carnival style game in the gym. Boys & Girls Club members ranging in ages 5 to teen will stop by each game to play. You will help reset the game for each child and award them a piece of candy if they win the game.
